Perverts in the course of Justice

Another trial for sexual misconduct in their line of duty as police officers is over for Clint Rickards, Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum. For the men themselves, their day in court is done. For the judge, he has done his job. For the jury, some might feel sick at the verdict they announced. For the public, a new level of disgust has been reached and emotions run higher and higher as the verdict, the public damage control by one of the accused and the knowledge that another 'alleged' victim has come out of hiding to reveal another 'alleged' violation by one of the previously convicted is made public.

In latest the case of the Three Stooges V a complainant, they were found Not Guilty. The jury were not allowed to know that two of the accused ex-policemen in this historical rape case were already stirring a different kind of porridge as convicted rapists in a prior one - our Judicial System does not allow such evidential clarity any more than it differentiates between Not Guilty and Innocent. The third member of the unholy trio would like his job back as Police Commander for Auckland, even though the Mayor of Auckland says 'we don't want him' and the general public are disgusted at new reports of his indulgence in sexual intercourse over the bonnet of a police car.

Such sterling characters we have/had in charge of arresting the little man for minor infringements.

There was an excellent editorial in the Herald this weekend that covered all the crimes these men have so far been brought before the court for, and you can read the full version of it here or right click on this link to download a pdf version. Access to many other news reports about these men and the court cases can be found here.

Maybe one of the most insulting features of the historical rape case that put Shipton and Schollum behind bars where they belong is one of their fellow defendants and also a convicted rapist Peter McNamara sending a sperm sample out of his prison without the knowledge or permission of the Corrections Department and under the guise of Doctor/Patient confidentiality to be used to impregnate his wife, which duly accomplished saw her give birth to a baby in January of this year. McNamara was allowed out of prison to attend the birth.

And here was me thinking convicted pack rapists went to prison to remove them from real life and the joys it had to offer...

For the last but, I guess it just shows up what a wanker the guy really is. As to the rest... Wot you said.. Even Helen Clark has expressed her disgust in the whole sordid travesty of justice...
