Today in history...

1598: Edict of Nantes promulgated

The edict granted substantial religious liberty to the Huguenots of France, but also restored Catholicism in all areas where Catholic practice had been interrupted in the Wars of Religion.


Of course, if Louis XIV hadn't renounced it in 1685, I'd probably be living in France, scoffing frogs legs and snails and drinking wine, not living as an expat daughter of the Huguenot exodus.
